Differences between v1.1.0.36 and v1.2.0.42 below.

  • Support for password protected feeds using either HTTPS/SSL or HTTP Authentication. This feature can be tested using Steven Garrity's test feeds.
  • The ability to store and retrieve feed list from remote locations such as a dasBlog blog, an FTP server or a network file share. This enables users utilizing RSS aggregators on multiple machines to synchronize their feed list from a single point. This feature has been called a subscription harmonizer by some.
  • Multiple feeds downloaded simultaneously instead of one at a time thus reducing download time.
  • When saving as OPML, the hierarchy of the feed list is preserved instead of writing out a flat structure.
  • Default theme for viewing items changed to resemble that of a mail reader like Outlook Express.
  • Added support for <dc:author> and <author> elements to a number of templates including the default theme.
  • FIXED: Feed list corruption when importing an OPML file where xmlUrl="" for some feeds
  • FIXED: NullReferenceException involving streams when accessing feeds after RSS Bandit has been running for a long time.

app.config and the Web Reference were not included in the source files, therefor the app will not compile.

could you forward them or place a link on the net for them.

app.config was included in the 1.0.36 build but I am not sure if it can be used in 42.

Thanks

The app.config file is the RssBandit.exe.config file in the application folder. As for the Web Reference folder, this is an oversight on my part. I'll probably put together another release shortly that addresses these issues and a few others.

Is it a feature or a bug that when you click on a link, it opens in the feed details window instead of a separate tab?

36 opened in a separate tab.

Also the app seems to get stuck in a "refreshing feeds" mode, when it appears to be complete.

Also a bug that still seems to be there is when you read or "catch up" a feed, if no remaining items in any feed need to be read (all items are read), the status is still "unread feed items available".

You have to change feeds before the status will change.

Even after that, when the feeds do refresh, the app still thinks items need to be read, even if all items have been read.

Would you like additional information?

Since I am unable to use inline html in this block, should it be the responsibility of the web service to embed &lt;br /&gt; in place of crlf, as seen on this page for my other comments?

This would make reading the comments with RSS Bandit a little easier.

Right now my prior comments are being displayed as one long line in RSS Bandit.

Or should I add this as a bug/enhancement on rssbandit.org and have it handle the data as a &lt;pre&gt; block if no tags are found?

Also you get a server exception if you do have html in this block.

Joe,
Posting bugs in the RSS Bandit workspace is the best way to get stuff fixed. The feed pane behavior was a change Torsten made in preparation for us abandoning the Magic UI library since it is no longer free. I've asked him to revert to the old behavior for now so the next release should be the one from older versions of RSS Bandit.
